The virtual paint pot ... yes, pure digital art!
One of the reasons I've been neglecting the hell out of this blog for the last few months is that I've been working my tail off on a novel. Yes, okay ... I've also tarryhooted on facebook far more than I should have, but facebook can't take all the blame for the systematic neglect of this blog! No --
The truth is, I've been working on a book. And it's finished. Now, we start the artwork for it ... and since it's going to be released as an "indie" later in the year, it'll have to have the living daylights promoted out of it. The fact of the matter is, if you're not prepared to spend more time promoting a book than you spent on writing and editing it, the book will sit on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and so forth, and rarely (if ever) sell a copy. So I'm already starting to think in terms of promotions.
This is going to take a lot of art. It could be a couple of dozen paintings by the time there's enough illustrative material to make an impact, catch the eye and imagination of potential readers. So 'd better get busy!
Here's the first: Sophia Dorne, the wind witch herself, one of the central characters in a novel called A Witch of Seven Winds. The next character on the waiting list is Jacques Adair, captain of a trading ship called the Dragonwind...
Yes, it's all handsome heroes, witches, sailing ships, magic, ocean storms, mayhem and romance. Better yet, you'll be able to read this novel free and gratis! More about that soon!
